Greeting
The livestock products are essential to support our foods. Stable supply of high quality livestock products is one of the most important concerns for the present and the future because of the rapid increasing of human population over the world. Therefore, studies on the technology development for sustainable increase in the production of the livestock with superior ability, the effective nutritional control and management technology of them, and maintenance of their health are necessary. Because advanced fundamental researches are carried out in the field of zoology of our country, the development of the studies with new ideas is expected by the collaboration of animal science and the fundamental researches. The research Center for Animal Science, Hiroshima University (RCAS) aims to develop the advanced animal science and technology for the production of livestock with good quality and health. The RCAS will also make efforts to form domestic and international research networks for contributing to the world community (Asian region in particular) through a development of animal science and technology.
RCASについて
本研究拠点では，これまで実績のある，①鳥類の生殖・免疫機構の解析②哺乳動物の生殖機能の解明と実用化技術開発③反芻動物において栄養成分で内分泌環境をコントロールする画期的技術を３本柱として，それぞれにおいて，基礎研究者とチームを組み，生物学および動物学における学術的価値の高い研究成果を得る．さらに産官との共同研究を通して，生産現場ニーズを吸い上げるシステムを構築し，新たな研究ユニットを構築して，生産現場のニーズをフルカバーする畜産・酪農技術開発拠点を形成する．
それぞれの研究ユニットには，国内外の共同研究機関と広島大学内の他部局の研究者が含まれ，一つ屋根の下「～Move under one Roof～」構想により，幅広い視点から研究を展開できる体制とする．
