  • Associate Professor Naoki ISOBE, Associate Professor Masahide NISHIBORI, and Professor Taketo OBITSU visited Khon Kaen University (KKU) in Thailand from March 7 to 8, 2016.

    Professors had a meeting about the collaborative research with Dr. Monchai (Dean of the faculty of Agriculture, KKU), Dr. Vitote (Vice Dean of the faculty of Agriculture, KKU), Dr. Suporn, and two other members.

  • Professor Yukinori YOSHIMURA and Associate Professor Naoki ISOBE presented their works at "The 6th International Seminar on Tropical Animal Production (ISTAP)", held at Yogyakarta, Indonesia, on 20-21 Oct. 2015.

    Mainly on activity of the RCAS, the Graduate School of Biosphere Science has concluded international exchange agreements with the Faculty of Agriculture, Gadjah Mada University. Professor Yoshimura presented (Invited) his work about "antimicrobial defense system in poultry". Also, Associate Professor Isobe and Ms. Nishikawa, a graduate student, presented individually their work about "Mastitis and antimicrobial defense systems", which Ms. Nishikawa won the best presentation award.

  • RCAS International Symposium on Animal and Nutrition was held on 20 Feb. 2015.Poster

    Hiroshima University invited internationally renowned researchers in the nutritional field which was related to production of domestic animals and human health, and held an international symposium on 20 Feb. 2015. About 120 people including researchers and students studying related field were participated the symposium that was hosted by RCAS and was also under the joint auspices of Agritech (NPO) and Graduate School of Biosphere Science, Hiroshima University. In part 1, Dr. Jian-Xin Liu (Zhejiang University, China) lectured dietary strategies in lactating cow utilized Chinese feed resources, Dr. Huntington (North Carolina State University, US) talked about starch digestion and glucose metabolism in ruminants, and Dr. Lobley (Rowett Research Institute, University of Aberdeen, UK) delivered a lecture about influence of the meal on human obesity and health. In part 2, Dr. Taniguchi (Hiroshima University) summarized his 40 years’ research results titled “My universities for education, study and personal development”. The posture of the lecturers who had been aiming at technology development of the animal husbandry and the contribution to the human health based on a basic study for many years made a deep impression on all the participants.

  • JAB & RCAS joint symposium "The heart of animals from scientific knowledge" was held on 30 Jan. 2015.

  • A doctoral dissertation presentation "Nutritional studies for early lactation cows milked by an automatic milking system" was held on 28 Jan. 2015.

  • Associate Professor Kawakami, Associate Professor Obitsu, Professor Maeda and Professor Yoshimura visited the Kasetsart University (KU) in Thailand from January 22 to 25, 2015.
    After RCAS and KU introduced themselves each other, their researchers made presentations on the outcomes of their studies while making propositions and exchanging views with regard to conducting international joint research and hosting of the symposium in the future. Professor Yoshimura and Associate Professor Obitsu also conducted an international symposium in which KU scholars and students attended with a lively discussion. Despite two days of stay, it was a great opportunity for us all to be able to cultivate friendship with professors and students at KU, and to explore the chance of RCAS-KU joint research project in the future.

  • Associate Professor Masayuki Shimada has received the UniBio Press Award.
    His article(J Mamm Ova Res, 2009)became the number of reading first place in the online system that the J Mamm Ova Res joined.

  • Joint symposium by RCAS and Gadjah Mada Univerity (UGM; Indonesia) was held at UGM campus on 10 Nov, 2014. At the symposium, activities of RCAS and UGM animal Science were introduced, and then some research reports were presented by professors of each institute. Then, the participants discussed on the collaborative education and research plans. Drs, Nishibori, Maeda, Taniguchi, Obitsu, Sugino, Bungo, Yoshimura, Isobe, and several students from RCAS, and about 10 professors including Professor Ali Agus, Dean of Faculty of Animal Science (UGM) participated in the symposium. Before the symposium, Faculty of Animal Science held a big ceremony for 45 years anniversary. In that ceremony, Graduate School of Biosphere Science and Faculty of Animal Science established MOU specific for education and research collaboration. This MOU will facilitate the collaboration by the institutes.

  • Professor Yukinori Yoshimura presented his work as an invited symposium speaker at the 'Avian Reproduction: Foundational Advances and Practical Applications' Symposium of 2014 Poultry Science Association annual meeting, held in Corpus Christi, Texas, USA, on 14-17, 2014. The title of his talk was “Innate immunodefense system in hen reproductive organs.
